Meeting of Kazakhstan’s State Secretary with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Kazakhstan M.Damirchilu

The State Secretary stressed that thanks to the close and confidential dialogue of the leaders of our countries, the Kazakh-Iranian relations reached a qualitatively new level and noted that their next meeting would be held the following week as part of the 5th Caspian Summit.

- We attach great importance to expansion and strengthening of trade and economic cooperation with Iran, the Secretary said.

Gulshara Abdykalikova dwelt on the results of implementing the Program for Industrial-Innovative and Trade-Economic Cooperation, adopted during the visit of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to Teheran in 2016, which includes 48 projects worth $ 1.38 billion, as agriculture, transit and logistics, subsoil use and industry.

- The trade turnover for January-May 2018 amounted to 251.4 million dollars, which is 41.7% higher than for the same period of the previous year (177.4 million). Exports increased by 36.1% to $ 207.2 million, imports increased by 76% to $ 44.2 million, the State Secretary said.

The Secretary emphasized that the interim agreement on forming a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran aimed at establishing a preferential trade regime and based on the norms of the WTO and international law would create stable conditions and rules for mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Iran.

- We see a lot of groundwork for developing cooperation in transit-transport, agricultural spheres, as well as in the field of subsoil use, Abdykalikova said during her conversation with the Ambassador.

At the end of the meeting, the State Secretary of Kazakhstan thanked the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran M.Damirchilu, who is completing his diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan, for his contribution to the development and strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between our friendly states and wished successes in his new position.
